‘What is a Warped Square?’ | Exploration Beading Workshop

Ever wondered about how to make and use a Warped Square?

In beading terms they have many uses, and this all day class will explore how to use tools like Beadographer to make your own designs, how to add in embellishments, how to use peyote stitch and delicas to make Stars, Bails, Earrings, Pendants and much more!

Please Note: pictured are examples of what can be made with a warped square. You will be able to learn this technique  to design your own project but may not finish it in class depending on it’s complexity.

Paula loves to bead … it is how she relaxes, gets creative and learns. Paula has been beading for more than 15 years, and her great thrill is that her passion for beading is being shared with others – either through teaching, sharing her craft or seeing others wear her finished jewellery.
Beading away in her studio, with her current favourite TV show on the iPad, is one of the things Paula loves to do!
With a cup of peppermint tea and loads of lovely shiny things to play with, it’s how she likes to spend her time.

This workshop is for all students including beginners.

Cost:
$140 plus an optional kit fee of $35 payable directly to Paula on the day.

All bookings require a deposit with the balance to be paid on the day.
Payment plans are available so please do not hesitate to contact us if you require this option.
Bookings will be made on a first come, first served basis however a deposit must be made before your booking is secure (or a payment plan put in place).

Places are strictly limited as we run with small class sizes ensuring that all participants receive personalised attention from their tutor. At all Whimsical Bead events, you are not just a number!

What to Bring:

  • Fireline thread (or purchase on the day);
  • You can bring along your own delica beads for this day if you wish – make sure you have at least four or five colours of delica beads and some size 15 beads, 3mm Crystals and earring hooks (or you can purchase a kit from Paula  which will have everything you need);
  • Beading Needle (or purchase on the day);
  • Your lunch (or you can go into town on your lunch break);
  • Notebook/Pen/Pencil if you would like to take notes.

Once you have booked in, you will receive a manual ‘Confirmation of Booking’ email approximately a week before the workshop which will include a booking reminder plus all the information you need for this workshop (you may need to check your spam or promotions folder as sometimes they end up in there!).

Extra Information Regarding COVID/Illness:
We ask that you remember that we are a home based business run by someone with chronic illnesses. Many of our visitors are also immune compromised. Please do not visit the studio if you are unwell in any way. Thank you for your understanding.

Here’s what makes us different from other creative spaces.

  •  All our Tutors are experienced in teaching and have many years of experience working with their respective mediums/in their field of expertise – for most of our tutors this is over 15 years experience.
  • Our workshop sizes are always small with usually no more than 8-10 students.
  • We provide a friendly, inviting space and cater for many challenges you may face  (health issues, food intolerances, anxiety, etc, etc.). Many of our students (and some of our tutors) suffer from chronic illness and have special needs. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dani who will do her best to help you out;
  • We have a garden space that can be helpful to those who are on the autism spectrum or experience sensory overload – it can be a good space to retreat to in order to reset before returning to your workshop. We also have our studio pup – Kenzi Mae (our 3 year old Golden Retriever).
  • We use only high quality materials/products in our workshops and myself and our Tutors are familiar with how these work and can give you accurate information/answers to your questions;
  • Students are able to browse our 1500+ products and purchase if they wish to either before, during or after their workshop;
  • We offer payment plan options on most workshops as we understand that finances can be tight (please email if you’d like to take advantage of this);
  • We are fully insured and there is always someone on site who has a Level 2 first aid qualification and asthma management training. All tutors who are working with children have current, valid Working with Children Checks.
  • We offer ‘after workshop’ support for all our students. Students can ask questions of our tutors and refresh any information they need to after the workshop via email, phone or in our Facebook group especially for students.
