One of us is still working here at the studio for another few days (hint….its no one with 4 legs who had a spa day today 😂).

So, who remembers the old ‘Pick n Mix’ station at the local lolly shop, or at the cinemas, or the milk bar….or even at the Lego store (yep I’m that person! 😝😉)??

I always loved them (especially when my Aunt took me and I got to choose anything I wanted!) so I have decided to implement a Pick and Mix bead station at the shop.

You’ll be able to grab a jar and fill it with whatever you want from the station at a set price.

So, what do you think?

In 2021, the world lost a true shining star 🌟
Karen Donald was one of my best friends and an integral part of The Whimsical Bead.

Karen was not only a very special human, she was an amazing tutor. She had a way of making all of her students feel seen and understood whilst providing a nurturing, inclusive environment for them to learn.

Karen was passionate about education and dedicated so much of her time on this earth to teaching throughout her life in many different ways.

We have a number of memorials for Karen here at the studio but one of the main ones is ‘The Karen Donald Memorial Award’.
Each year I select one of our students who demonstrates some of the traits of who Karen was and what she stood for.
Someone who is kind to their fellow students, passionate about learning, willing to give different things a go, someone who is loyal and supportive of The Whimsical Bead……just to name a few.

It’s never easy to choose a recipient but I am happy with my decision as were the students who were at the Christmas party when I announced this.

You have won a voucher to attend any workshop here at the studio next year free of charge, in Karen’s honour, to expand and build on your skills.

Karen, you may be gone but you’ll never be forgotten.

One of the highlights of the year for me is our students Christmas party. We’ve been doing this for a number of years now and it’s always a lot of fun - today was no exception (even though we were missing quite a lot of people - we missed you!!).

One thing I never anticipated when I started this business all those years ago, was the community that it would build. It’s heartwarming to see so many connections and life long friends being made through this space. I think 90% of everyone I have in my life currently, I’ve met through this little biz, including people I know will be lifelong friends.

To everyone who came today, thank you. I know it’s a busy time of year and I appreciate you making the effort. I hope you love your gifts (and congrats to those who won prizes!).

I’ve come home feeling very tired but my heart is full 💗
