February was jam packed of workshops – so many exciting things on!
In February, award winning artist, Catriona Starpins (who is also a pretty awesome person!) made her Whimsical Bead teaching debut with this amazing new workshop – Dimensional Bead Embroidery.
I was so thrilled to join in on this workshop myself, I learned so much. Every student in the class managed to design some wonderful components and with Cat’s help, were well on their way to creating some fabulous dimensional embroidered pieces.
We are thrilled that Cat has joined our team of expert tutors and we’re so excited that she’s agreed to come back and teach again in Semester 2.
Did you miss out on a place in this popular workshop? Be sure to join our workshop mailing list to be the first to know when new workshops are listed. Just email us and we will add you.
Also this month, we held our first Polymer 101 session for the year. It’s always great to see so many of my students enthusiastic about polymer clay whether they be newbies or experienced clayers. If you missed out, a similar session will be held in Semester 2.
February was also the first of our ‘Maille Mania’ workshops for the year. This particular session focused on Celtic Weaves and students learned a series of Celtic chainmaille weaves.
Our Maille Mania workshops operate similarly to our Simply Seed Beads workshops. Students can either learn the feature weave/s or work on something that they’ve brought from home and need help with or they can use this as a session to learn something that they have missed from a previous maille workshop.
February also saw us launch our ‘Get Creative’ evening sessions and we held the first of our Mini Sessions for the year – Morrigan Earrings with Karen.
So many things going on! (and so many more in March!!)
