Those of you who have been to one of Kay Lancashire’s workshops will know that they are always a treat!
Kay is the owner of Kay’s Artycles, an online store and gallery stocking unique findings and supplies for all your jewellery and beading creations. Lucky for us, Kay is also a seriously talented artist who loves to pass on her knowledge to willing students and we had a whole group of them here on the 2nd March 2014, just waiting to learn!
Kay runs her workshops very much as I run mine – she demonstrates techniques to students and then allows them to create their own designs and pieces from these techniques, ensuring she is on hand to guide them and help out with any problems. It is by running our workshops in this way that students end up with their own unique piece of art and they also focus on the particular techniques that they wish to master.
Kay showed students a multitude of techniques in this one day workshop – wire manipulation (cutting, wrapping etc.), adding beads to wire, creating free form shapes from wire, torch work such as balling wire to create headpins, colouring metal etc…..plus so much more!
Everyone had a lot of fun and created some wonderful pieces – each of them so different from the next – and I’m pleased to announce Kay will be back to teach more workshops here at the studio in the near future!
