The Whimsical Bead

Create Your Own Silkscreens

$70.00 $140.00

There is a plethora of Silkscreens available on the market for you to use in various jewellery applications but sometimes they are just not the right one.
The pattern may be a little too large or too small, or maybe you simply want a customised silkscreen.

Silkcreens and frames are too large, bulky and time consuming to prepare for jewellery sized items.
In this class we will using techniques to create silkscreens that you can easily use in your home studio.
The silkscreens that we make can be used to screen print onto metal, polymer clay, resin, paper, material, glass, porcelain and ceramics. These techniques will allow you to individualise your work by creating your own patterns.

We will be creating our patterns with everyday items you have in the home as well as using digital images.
In this workshop you can expect to create 5 small silkscreens that you can than use to print onto any medium in which you work.

PLEASE NOTE : If you have specific images you would like to use, these need to be provided digitally to us by 15th August.
More information regarding this will be sent to you very soon.

Photo/s are examples only. Students will be encouraged to create their own designs/pieces with guidance from Wendy.

This class will run with a maximum of 12 students.

In her own words, Wendy is a maker, designer, creater and teacher.
She loves to create with her hands. Wendy says ‘I love to create with my hands, its somthing that I must do. Creating is my meditation. To be able to sit at my bench and sketch ideas and then to make those ideas come to life.
Like most children, Wendy’s first introduction into jewellery was when she was at preschool and made her first Fruit Loop necklace…who would have known then that it would become her life’s passion… jewellery making, not Fruit Loops!
Over the years, Wendy experimented with many forms of jewellery making and whilst still at high school discovered lapidary. It is also where she was introduced to metalworking. What followed from there was a desire to learn, play and experiment with many mediums. Studying gemology to traveling overseas and taking various workshops, she continues to learn and experiment with her jewellery.
