‘Beautiful Jewellery : From Scratch’ Workshop

In this brand new workshop, Dani will show you how to create beautiful jewellery, from scratch (as well as using pre-made findings if desired), using a variety of methods.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Creating wrapped loops from wire and ready-made headpins;
  • Creating your own balled headpins using precious metal wire;
  • Creating your own headpins using wire;
  • Creating your own ear wires using precious metal wire;
  • Different metals available and properties/pros/cons of each;
  • Different beads/crystals available and properties/pros/cons of each;
  • Tools to use to make creating jewellery much easier;
  • Basic finishing techniques;
  • Plus more!

We will also touch on the different findings available for jewellery making and there will  be time for lots of questions and experimentation/play time.

Project choice is up to each individual student as is the final result – the photos are just some examples.

Weather permitting, this workshop will be held in our outdoor studio in  line with our covid safe plan.
Please be prepared  for this.
If the weather is  not ideal, we will move to the inside studio, implementing additional covid safe measures.

 

Tutor:
Dani from The Whimsical Bead
Dani is the owner/creator of The Whimsical Bead and has been creating with polymer clay for 15 years and that, along with metal, is where her passion lies. Dani loves to teach and pass on her knowledge and she feels very lucky that people want to learn from her.

 

Skill Level:
This workshop is suitable for students of all skill levels.

 

Cost:
$120 plus materials (cost will depend on what you choose  to create on the day).
Price includes tuition, use of tools, consumables, morning and afternoon tea, tea/coffee.


 

All bookings require a deposit with the balance to be paid on the day.

Payment plans are available so please do not hesitate to contact us if you require this option.
Bookings will be made on a first come, first served basis however a deposit must be made before your booking is secure.

What to Bring:

  • Pliers – Chain Nose, Round Nose and Cutters  (or borrow ours);
  • Butane Torch (or borrow ours – please let us know if you need one for the day);
  • Any beads you wish to use (we  will have limited beads  for sale on the day if needed). If you are a polymer or glass artist you may wish to bring your own handmade  beads to use;
  • Any findings or wire you wish to use (or purchase on the day);
  • Face Mask;
  • Your lunch (or you can go into town on your lunch break);
  • Notebook/Pen/Pencil if you would like to take notes.

Once you have booked in, you will receive a manual ‘Confirmation of Booking’ email a week or two before the workshop which will include a booking reminder plus all the information you need for this workshop.

 

Extra Information Regarding COVID:

 

Please note, COVID safety measures will be in place on the day. These may vary from workshop to workshop according to current government regulations. You will be required to sign in (digitally via QR code preferred as per government guidelines), wear a face mask and hand sanitise your hands. There may be other safety measures in place on the day as directed by industry guidelines.
We ask that you remember that we are a home based business run by someone with chronic illnesses. Many of our visitors are also immune compromised. Please do not visit the studio if you are unwell in any way, have recently had a covid test and are awaiting the results or have been in contact with someone who has been unwell. If you arrive to the studio and are seen to have covid symptoms you may be asked to leave. We ask that you please respect our guidelines when entering the studio to keep yourself and everyone attending, safe.
